The decision to explore psychedelics often arises from a place of seeking relief from emotional pain, trauma, or a sense of being stuck. Perhaps you've been carrying the weight of past experiences, struggling with anxiety, depression, or feelings of disconnection. Maybe you're facing existential questions about the meaning of life and your place in the world. Whatever your reasons, embarking on a psychedelic journey can be both exciting and scary, as it opens the door to profound revelations and emotions you may not have been prepared to confront.

Let's talk integration!

How Integration Works

In a society where the stigma surrounding psychedelics still looms large, it's natural to feel apprehensive about discussing your experiences openly. You may fear judgment, rejection, or misunderstanding from others – including therapists who may not be familiar with or accepting of psychedelic exploration. You do not have to fear this hear. We will discuss how to minimize harm both to your body and to your mind, all while respecting your right to determine your interactions for yourself.

It's essential to recognize that psychedelic integration therapy offers a safe and supportive space where you can share your journey without fear of condemnation. Here, your experiences are met with compassion and understanding, free from the constraints of societal taboos or outdated beliefs.

Psychedelic Integration includes 3 parts:

  • Preparation: Your psychedelic journey begins before you take the medicine with preparation. Discussing your expectations and desires around using a substance. This will include a discussion of set (your mindset going in) and setting (the atmosphere and location in which you partake).

  • Experience: The taking of the medicine for healing purposes. During preparation we will discuss how to reduce harm during the experience. This may include testing the substance and making plans day of.

  • Integration: This looks much like typical therapy, discussing and making meaning out of your experience. Tapping into your experience in your body as well as your thoughts. This can take anywhere from weeks to months. I typically recommend 3-5 sessions per trip or use.

All of these things come together to make up psychedelic integration therapy. These practices help you have the best and most depthful experience possible. Please note, Embodied Awareness Psychotherapy does not condone the use of illegal substances. Neither Embodied Awareness Psychotherapy nor your therapist will not provide you psychedelics or facilitate psychedelic journeys.
